It's 11/1/11. What will you be doing on 11/11/11?
I will be marching in the Veteran's Day Parade alongside U.S. Veterans from all branches of military service, the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce Dixie Sunshiners, and business owners in beautiful St. George, Utah!
It starts at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning on 300 East Tabernacle and continues to 200 West Tabernacle. Also a tribute to the Military and Public Safety persons at 10:45 a.m. in the St. George Tabernacle / 18 South Main Street.
ON THE AGENDA FOR NOVEMBER 2011
The City of Ivins donated 10 acres of land for a Veteran's Nursing Home to be built. It will:
- Provide 108 beds for veterans
- Lend an 'at home' environment
- Create approximately 135 full-time jobs
- Give a boost to the local southern Utah economy
- Be funded with funds comprised of 35% state dollars and 65% federal
A second facility is in the plans to be built in Payson, Utah.
In a state-owned Veterans home, the VA will pay for nearly one half the cost of care for the resident. In instances where service connected disabilities are the reason the Vet needs long-term care, the amount paid by the VA covers 100% of the cost of care. This is only available to the Veteran if he or she is residing in a state owned facility.
You may call 801-326-2372 or go to our website for additional information, www.veterans.utah.gov.
If you are interested in employment, volunteer service, or learning more about contributing to the facilities in any manner, call the Utah Department of Veterans Affairs at 801-326-2372 and we will provide additional information suited to your request.
