Orenco Station, answer to Where is it Wednesday...somewhere in Hillsboro, OR 11/2/11

Oh boy, I can't believe it's November already!! Where did this year go? Each week I'll be posting a new picture on Wednesday morning. The title of the blog will have the City where the picture is taken and I'll post the answer Wednesday evening...not only here on my blog, but on facebook business page (please click like and add yourself there) as well as tweetin it on my Twitter page. Looks like I must have been making them a bit hard these last few weeks as although John was very close, there were no correct answers to last week's Willamette General Store, answer to Where is it Wednesday...somewhere in West Linn, OR 10/26/11. Remember, you're free to google or use whatever there is on hand.

Do you know where it is? Care to guess? Comments are welcome! I'll post the answer tonight.

Hint: In the midst of Portland's high tech corridor, this community was a forerunner in a fantastic inovative sustainable lifestyle and carless commuting. It also has a park that has the same name as a HUGE well known park in Manhattan.

Orenco Station, answer to Where is it Wednesday...somewhere in Hillsboro, OR. 11/2/11

I can remember when I lived in Austin Texas and knew I was moving to Portland, my neighbor showed a Better Homes and Gardens magazine where it highlighted Orenco Station as a new type of neighborhood where you could live sustainably by having everything you need in close distance to your home. That was back in 2000..the year I moved to Portland.

Orenco Station is indeed one of those neighborhoods where you can walk a block or two to the New Seasons Market for groceries..or the Farmer's Market when it's open during the year. Local restaurants, shops and of course Starbucks makes this a desirable place to live. The Max line being close by helps those commuters get to places without getting into a car. An easy bike ride can get you to work at any of the nearby HighTech plants..one notably Intel. Orenco Station is right in the midst of Portland's HighTech Corridor but has this really nice feel to it with it's brownstones, flower lined streets and it's own Central Park. Just being there taking some pictures, I felt like a slacker  not being one of those many people out and about walking and jogging.

If you're moving to Hillsboro, check out Orenco Station. Give me a call...I'd be happy to find you a home here!

Talk about wonderful curb appeal! These just call you to want to see what's inside!

Hi there!

I'm guessing this is Orenco Station development in Hillsboro - which happens to be located right near Central Park.   It looks like a great place to live!

My guess too and it's a cool community. I have always been a fan of "car-less" lifestyles. Enjoy the sunshine Cindy Lou.

Hi Cindy,

I thought Kat still had more shoveling to do after the 17" snowfall they had Saturday night, so I thought I had plenty of time to get over here today. Apparently, not so. :-)

Hi John...LOL, she must have delegated that job to someone else while she stayed warm inside hanging out on AR :) Of course you would have gotten this one as well. Thank you as always for stopping by every Wednesday. You are such a good friend!

Hi Nestor and Katerina, It's a local post I do each week to highlight an area. I learn a lot and always have fun doing it.

Yay!  Cindy, this is a great way for other people to get to know your area.  Keep 'em coming!

John- ha ha very funny.  We actually shoveled the 1200 square feet of driveway the morning after the snow.  It was heavy and not much fun and I was wondering why the 19 year old is never around when you need him.  Hmm, maybe a future blog!

Cindy--isn't this area gorgeous? I go through it every week or bi-monthly, comin' in from the country and do all my shopping for the week. The fall colors are absolutely STUNNING. One of the prettiest areas outside of Portland there is.

My husband's company, MetroWest is based there, too! (Right near the park where all of the geese hang out year 'round...Dawson Creek Rd.)

These photos SHINE!!!

Orenco Station reminds me of the brownstone where the Cosby family lived on The Cosby Show. I love long stairways like that, but my knees don't, anymore.

Hi Russel, I forgot all about the Cosby's having the brownstone...used to watch that show all the time! I'm with you on the knees as well. My home has several levels..and on the days that my lack of memory has me going up and down them often to get things I forgot....oh boy do my knees feel it!
