What is Play-Doh made of, and can you eat it? This is the question I posted on Mosio. Mosio is a mobile community, connecting people with questions to people with answers.
The site works by either sending in an email or text message to Ask@Mosio.com. Your question will then be posted on the main page of the site allowing users online to answer the question. Currently questions are restricted only to members. If your first question is sent through SMS the site will automatically create an account allowing you to register later similar to HouseFront. There are really no rules, anyone can ask anything and anyone can answer, the site is banking on the fact that people will help each other, the site says this:
“Note: Please answer serious questions with serious answers. If someone asks a smart ass question, give a smart ass answer, but help those who need help and they’ll do the same for you!”
The site launched in August and thus far has been successful with people signing up and using the system. When I first tried it out I didn’t think I would get a response back for a few hours, but within 3 minutes I had my first answer and by 5 min I had a second response. Mosio brings in the social aspect by allowing friends to answer and see each other’s questions (your friends are called your Qniverse).
To add depth to their service they also offer a few SMS “apps” that you can sign up for such as reminders, business finders and fun ones like a fortune teller. For those of you on a restricted text messaging plan you may want to curb your appetite for knowledge as you may receive multiple text messages from users trying to answer your question. Don’t be discouraged though if your text messaging is limited… there are other ways of getting any question you want answered, cue Telefact. Telefact is an information hotline staffed by students at the University of Pittsburgh, any question can be asked and the staff will find the answer for you, simply dial 412-624-FACT(3228).
With Mosio’s SMS question and answer service and the University of Pittsburg Telefact line you’ll never be without the information you need. Give either system a try I’m sure you’ll find what your looking for.
Here's a commercial Mosio made to help explain the service to people:
