I have an entry on my other blog about Zillow... actually I have a bunch of entries on Columbus Best Blog about Zillow. I should mention... when Zillow was born there was an idea to never say "Zillow" ... never give the brand name a boost....just call Zillow "Z." Naive?
Recently on my other blog I wrote a simple little thing called.. Loves Z, Loves Z not
Real Living a real estate company was an early supporter of Zillow. I was mortified the first day Zillow opened up shop to see Real Living ads on the site. I had heard of Zillow. Zillow was going to replace real estate agents, I heard.
Real Living has a blog. The Real Living Blog has written about Zillow, a couple of times. They've never mentioned loving Z. Or not loving Z. I can not speak for Real Living on either of my blogs obviously.
Real Living put the Zillow AVM on the Real Living Website. Joel at The Future of Real Estate Marketing wrote:
"Midwest-based broker, Real Living has announced that it has integrated Zillow.com data and valuations
on its web site. No news here you say. Loads of companies have incorporated Zillow API, right?
Well think again. Check out how they've put them to use. I think it's excellent."
Real Living Blog about "partnering" with Zillow
"Real Living First National Franchisor to Incorporate Zillow.comTM Data and Valuations"
Another entry on Real Livings Blog is about The Real Living Real Estate Symposium in October 2006. A representative of Zillow was in Columbus with the Real Living management and franchisees:
"Jeff Somers discusses Zillow.com's role in real estate industry
Jeff Somers, director of partner relations with Zillow.com, discussed Zillow's active role in the real estate industry at Real Living's Real Estate Industry Summit on Oct. 30.
Zillow.com, which recently partnered with Real Living, offers free online data and home valuations to homebuyers and sellers."
Real Living is a company which has been very innovative with technology. Real Living has done a great job of looking for partners in technology that enhance our business rather than businesses who want our listings and want to sell the leads from the listings back to us.
The other day when Inman news wrote of Zillow's new business plan I wrote on my other blog:
"December 7 while I was "waiting and seeing" whether the "sky was falling" or whether Zillow was the next best thing since sliced bread....I wrote an entry about Zillow.... when I went to grab a link to the Zillow AVM form the HER Real Living or Real Living's website... the link to Zillow's AVM was gone... "
There's lots about Zillow out there on the real estate blogosphere again.... One of my favorite blogs Sellsius° wrote
Zillow Comes Clean:Yes, I am a National Listing Site on December 7th. "keep your eye on the Zestimate"
"the switcheroo"
If you put a listing on Trulia and on Zillow is there a difference in the way the data is used? Is there a differnce in the ownership of the data between Zillow and other places you advertise listings? Just wondering.
Edit 2012 links were broken or misdirected so they've been deleted.
