Montgomery County, Maryland Foreclosures & Short Sales Update Rev. 11/03/11
Each year, RE/MAX Realty Group and I work to collect food for folks in our community who are less fortunate. Over the years, we have collected a great deal of food. This year, however, the food banks tell us the need is especially great.
Our goal is to collect one ton of food.

The Montgomery County Distressed Market
Of the 3206 homes currently available for sale in Montgomery County, 79(2.5%) are REO or foreclosures while 583(18.2%) are potential short sales. The number of foreclosures available remains low and in response, lenders are receiving multiple offers on many and selling them for above list price. Short sales continue to be an active segment for buyers looking potential deals, especially for those who can allow the lender(s) sufficient time to complete the process.

Home buyers need to be very selective when submitting offers on short sale listings to avoid the disappointment of a canceled sale after much time has past.
Tip of the week:
This coming weekend, daylight savings time ends and we roll back our clocks at 2am Sunday. This is also a great time to remember to replace your batteries in your smoke and/or carbon monoxide detectors. If your home uses natural gas, you should have a carbon monoxide detector in the home.
