Pensacola, FL will again host the Blue Angels Air Show on November 11th and 12th over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico at Pensacola Beach. The air shows are easily reached by boat, but beware of making the trip in anything sized less than 20 ft. In recent years I've personally made the trip many times, but only once in a smaller vessel. We took quite the beating when a swarm of 40+ ft fishing yachts flew by us in unison. Like a pack of synchronized swimmers they swamped us. For those not in the know with boater "slang" getting swamped is when, by your own error or someone else’s, a wave of water comes in to the boat to hang out with you. That's not supposed to happen right? Anyway, it's a great time especially if you get there early enough to get a good spot by the Boardwalk. For those unfamiliar with the Boardwalk it's a collection of restaurants, watering holes and Hooters for the chicken wing lovers out there. The other great part of getting there early is the availability to get off of the boat for a while and stretch your legs. Parking, especially on the water is limited.
Expect large crowds of spectators ranging from a few months old to the snow bird crowd....you'll know them by their driving tactics....hey, some people like to take there half of the road from the middle. I get it. Just may take a little longer to get there, but Rome wasn’t built in a day now was it?
