The City of Asheville tested a new phone app called "Parker" during the months of July thru September  to facilitate finding parking spaces (about 50 parking spots) in downtown Asheville.  But the city doesn’t have any information on the number of people who used the parking application during the testing period.  I used it a few times and found it useful.

If officials go ahead with installation in all of the metered parking spaces downtown, it would cost about $290 per space for the remaining 694 spots. The annual fee would be $223,200, which is $300 per space.

Some people interviewed voiced concerns that using the parking app could be dangerous if used while driving.
