Realtor's Beware

By
Real Estate Agent with Aksland Real Estate

Everyone is extremely focused upon the Internet and advertising.  Beware of people that make promises that they can take you to page one of Google or other search engines almost overnight.  For those of you out there that are able to optimize your web pages yourselves I applaud you.  It is an extremely difficult process to find out what key words will help the spiders come and increase your traffic. For those of you that do not know how to optimize your web sites just a few hints of wisdom.

1.  Don't ever hire anyone that guarantees that they will have you on page one instantly or within a few weeks.  Any SEO person worth their money will tell you it takes a while for the spiders to help increase traffic.

2.  Read the testimonials and check out their customer service feedback through the Better Business Bureau if you have any doubts.

3.  Always request proofs of your site as it is in the process of either being developed or organized, so that you can approve or disapprove of the progress being made.

4.  Never host your site through the SEO optimizer or web site developer.  If things go sour, they can actually hold your site hostage.

I give these warnings because I made most of these mistakes. I hope to keep you from making the same.

I've made a couple of these mistakes too.  Now when someone calls and promises  first place on a popular search engine I just hang up.  No use in even talking to them.

Matthew great advice. It takes more than a small flat fee to get to the top of the ratings... anyone who says different is looking to cash in on your money. Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice.  I have had a few calls even though I am not near page 1, and have been tempted by promises and high hopes.

I really enjoyed it today when one of these Jackasses called me to tell me this and I had them type in my search terms and I came up 5 of the top 10 spots on Google and they said, we are betting you paid to much to get there, we can save you money!

I really enjoyed telling them that I got there FREE by working hard and didn't pay anyone a one red cent! Didn't even ever pay for pay-per-click and then hung up on them.
