Good Reasons Why FSBO's don't sell by Realtor.com

I just read an interesting article on Realtor.com about why FSBO's don't sell that reminded me of a quick story.  A good friend of mine was struggling with who to list with since he knew all of the realtors in town.  Since he couldn't decide, he tried selling on his own.  He is very smart and priced the market and started promoting it in the newspaper and with signs.

After several weeks and no showings, he drew straws and picked a Realtor.  After 2 wks on the market and several showings, he had an offer.

Here's a link to the Realtor.com article:  http://www.realtor.com/home-finance/sellers-basics/fsbo-woes.aspx

Hope this helps you in deciding what you need to do.  Call me if I can help you with the financing for your next home!!  I am licensed in NC an SC.

We just had the same situation happen with a personal friend.  She had it listed FSBO for 6 months with no success.  We listed it a few weeks ago and should be having an offer come in this week.  Good stuff!

There's nothing like having tried it yourself, then understand the value of an agent in the transaction. I'm one of those that believes you get what you paid for.

Thanks for the post, Sam. I wanted to mention that Realtor.com doesn't contain any FSBO properties, never has and absolutely never will. We always suggest you contact a local real estate expert for assistance if you're thinking about buying or selling a home. Find a Realtor on Realtor.com is one of the best resources to search for a local expert.

Good post and as you may know Realtors get 16% more on average than a FSBO selling on their own. I always say their paying a commission regardless either to an agent or the reduction in price to the buyer.
