In a new competitive move, Google today announced the availability of Google+ Pages. This new feature is just like the business pages you have on Facebook but now part of the Google+ service. All you have to do is go to this link to start creating you business page.
It's not available to everyone yet but stay on top of it. Soon, you too can have a business page on Google just like the existing "Places" that nearly everyone with a business has already set up. Yeah, one more place to put your business on Google. If you're not on Google+, you'll need to sign up to take advantage of this new feature. As with everything else online, having more places for people to find you is generally a good thing.
The bigger question is; who cares about Google+ Places? As an agent you should be aware that Google+ has hit some rough spots lately with a decline in members and general apathy among remaining members. The media is reporting that the service isn't getting the use that Facebook, LinkedIn, and other services are getting. Given the history of Buzz and other social media tools Google has launched, there's a chance all your efforts could be a waste of time.
