Time to say "Goodbye to the Real Estate world"

It has come time to say" Thank you for wonderful memories and wonderful people I have met in the past 8 years".  It is no longer in my family's best interest to continue with this career choice. I love what I do and dreamed about being a Real Estate Agent since I was just a teenage girl. I made that dream come true when I was 34. I invested my heart and soul into the industry since 2004. With the decline in sales and clients my dreams and drive has come to a crashing hault. I can not afford the Board dues,MLS fees and so on.

 

I will continue to hold my Real Estate license in Mass and take a one year break. I wanted to say how lucky I have been to meet some extrodaniary Agents, Clients a made new friends along the way. I will refere out any possible sales/listings to agents in my current company. 

 

Thank you everyone who has taught me how to be my best. I wish all you associates the best of luck in the year to come. Take care and be well.

 

I hope to be back in 2013.        

I recently had a total Thyroidectomy in Febuary and that was the start of my down fall. Sick, not being able to work etc. I am not even insurable for a life insurance policy, I have no 401k,any retirement for my girls incase anything happens to me. This was a shock to me. So now I know If it is not coming in I can't give it out...

Maria, I applaud your tough decision.  This industry - whether you are selling real estate, or financing it - can be brutal.  I have been a licensed CA broker since 1979, but only really active in the lending industry since 1995.  But for all those years inbetween I kept up with my continuing education and kept renewing my licenses on the chance I would step back into the industry one day.   I am sure glad I did, too.    Studying and taking that broker's exam would have been tough all those years later.

Good luck to you in the future.  Your time spent in real estate will benefit you in many ways, I'm sure.

Its always tough to dive into something new as we all want to avoid change. If you have made this decision then do yourself a favor and DONT LOOK BACK! That is critical. Accept your decision and give your new gig your full and undivided attn. Change is good and you are entering into a world of new options and opportunities!

Thank you everyone so much, I feel like a million bucks now, with all the positive feedback.I am very saddened to take this break but I know it is for the best.

Jeff to you. I know the one thing I did right was try hard to stay for the past 3 years. Gave it my all and more. If I could go back the one thing I would do over is to make my dream happen much sooner than 2004 and not take for granted that the income i was making in 04-08 was always going to be there. I would have lived day to day, not looking at what I can do next with my income. Next time I come back, I promise to stash, stash, stash for my children.

Feel better Maria * I suggest that anyone * ANYONE * who wants to STAY in real estate SHOULD be looking into doing property management.  This specialty will take us through the next 3 to 5 years as it did in the early 70s
