Time to say "Goodbye to the Real Estate world"

Reblogger David Farrell

Why have our MLS groups declined by 1/3rd recently?  Here's one example.  Good luck Maria.  Enjoy some time off.  Find something you love - or maybe come back when the industry starts again thriving.

It has come time to say" Thank you for wonderful memories and wonderful people I have met in the past 8 years".  It is no longer in my family's best interest to continue with this career choice. I love what I do and dreamed about being a Real Estate Agent since I was just a teenage girl. I made that dream come true when I was 34. I invested my heart and soul into the industry since 2004. With the decline in sales and clients my dreams and drive has come to a crashing hault. I can not afford the Board dues,MLS fees and so on.

I will continue to hold my Real Estate license in Mass and take a one year break. I wanted to say how lucky I have been to meet some extrodaniary Agents, Clients a made new friends along the way. I will refere out any possible sales/listings to agents in my current company.

Thank you everyone who has taught me how to be my best. I wish all you associates the best of luck in the year to come. Take care and be well.

David, no kidding. Board/MLS annual dues are a real kicker. My board lets us make three easy payments to offset having to pay one huge lump sum on Jan 1. It's no wonder agents are leaving the business if they are not making enough money to justify paying MLS fees.

Pamela - I think we really are ready for an east/west hookup of the new MLS for which we limit the sales and vote on members. Then, we don't sell out our own industry to anyone willing to pay the fee.  Instead, we keep our listings within our own industry.  Not having to pay every Internet company like Willow, Fooldya, and YellowFin, etc. would keep a lot more money witin our industry, than among a group of programmers with no true ties to it.

It is sad to hear of another agent that has to hang it up due to the market conditions.

It is, but I only re-blogged it to show the state of affairs.  Unfortunately, things are bleak, but we're not receiving much help from within or without.  We have to fight for our own industry these days, as the banks now seem to control the majority of listings and our own MLS companies have all sold our listings to Internet companies by Supreme Court decree.  Rather than find ways to fight and win, they gave in and stuck with their cheezy ads of 'Now's a Great Time to Buy", making us look worse as an industry.  Sometimes, I think the NAR is in bed with all the other groups out to get us.

Thank you for re-blogging my blog. We do have some major issues. Like you stated the backs only give there short commings to certain agents. I wish I could get into that. I have short sale experiance as well and have had a short sale on my home 2 years ago. Why would anyone sell today if they didnt have to? Because right next door some family has lost a job, spouse, and has no way out but short sale there home. Thats where I have lost most of my high end sellers and buyers. Thank you again.

Anyone * ANYONE * who wants to STAY in real estate SHOULD be looking into doing property management.  This specialty will take us through the next 3 to 5 years as it did in the early 70s.

There are too many part -time agents out there. Many of them don't really know how the business runs. Hopefully, this slow market will help us lose some of them.

I have been looking into proerty management as well. But can't seem to get a position within 30 miles of my home. I am still looking everyday.

Wallace - Great advice.  I've been looking into a few cooperative and condominium buildings nearby my office and will be submitting a bid to manage at one over the next 10 days days.  It's a 44 unit building and wouldn't be very profitable, but it's exactly the start I'd be looking and hoping for in the management business.
