I must admit....I love an old fashioned hamburger...you know the kind I mean...juicy and dripping with goodness...great toppings and a taste that comes right out of the 1950's.
Well it seems the type of places that made burgers like this have disappeared from the American landscape bit by bit until they have become virtually extinct...but in Melbourne, FL we still have a shining example...and it is called Grumpy Al's Burger Inn...and burgers have been flipped here since the early 50's!
The Burger Inn has the goods. Sit down at one of the concrete outdoor patio tables and order a burger (cheeseburger if you must), fries and a shake...you will be instantly transformed back to the 1950's (bring your cash as well...they did not have credit cards back in the 1950's...and Grumpy Al does not accept them either).
The bun will come out perfectly toasted and crunchy...get all the fixin's on it and sit back and enjoy one of the absolute best burger experiences in the State of Florida. The shakes are wonderful and finish off this decidedly non-dietetic meal!
Check out the 50's style fast food burger look of the place (see the picture below) with vintage red awning, concrete outdoor tables and indoor 50's diner counter and stools...the place has not changed in years!
Is your mouth watering for a burger yet? Grumpy Al's Burger Inn is located in Melbourne, FL at 1819 Harbor City Blvd, 32935 (about 1/4 mile north of Eau Gallie Blvd on Harbor City Blvd...US 1). Hours are Mon-Sat 10-6. You can call ahead and order at 321-254-2211...but take a little time off in your day to come down and sit out on the patio...we all need a little 1950's now and then.
