Reblogger Karen Burket

As someone who is currently in the midst of adopting a few rescue dogs, it pains me to think of so many dogs out there in need of a home.  I wanted to re-post this in hope that anyone out there can help these two beautiful animals who are in need of some desperate help.  Please help if you can!

Thank you!

You just never know what the day will bring you. This morning Leslie and a couple of our Cannon’s Corner neighbors found two black labs on our deck in Dillsboro. They looked tired but in reasonably good shape. Luckily there was a rabies tag on one so Leslie was able to call the vet’s office and find out who these dogs were. She called the owner several times and got no answer. Since the address was just about 5 minutes away, I drove over hoping that the owner was just out in the yard.

I got there and there was no sign of the owner. I saw a neighbor and asked if she knew how I could get hold of them. I explained that their dogs were wandering around in Dillsboro.

That’s when she told me the news.

These dogs have a very sad story. About a month ago, their owner passed away. She had been living with her son. Her son was discovered dead this morning, the suspicion is an overdose and the dogs now have no humans to care for them. According to the neighbors, the son had not been feeding them very regularly and the brother labs had taken to roaming for food. They have been seen crossing US441 and also Hwy74. It is a miracle that they haven't been killed before now.

Black Labs need home in Dillsboro NC

Hogan and Reddick are brothers. Their vet is Harriet Shields of Jackson Veterinary Clinic and her office confirms that they are current on their rabies shots and have both been neutered. They are three years old and are labs. Black Labs need home in Dillsboro NC

These two boys are inseparable and no other family members want them. They are incredibly sweet and seem very well behaved. Will you help us find either a temporary foster situation or a permanent home for them? Please forward their photos on to everyone in your circle and feel free to call our office if you can help out at all.

Thanks for your help.
