Building Green Why The Heck Should We Do That!!!!!

I have said this over and over and also seeing a lot of talk on blogs about new construction and that the public would like to see more Green Homes......maybe this is the time that builders will listen and possibly build a few. In today's market what do you have to loose other than having a captive audience?????

I keep hearing of builders doing whatever they can to slow down the building process by being late turning things in and asking for more reports and or studies just to not have to build another home............Why not try to build a few homes in a smaller plat and advertise green energy efficient homes with more natural building materials.....I think that the market is right for that..........what do you think..

It would be great to see some bgeneral uilders take the lead in this.  Around here the Green homes tend to be consumer driven.  However, there must be enough business to keep the several Green Building companies located here in Maine.

Hi Todd,  I think the word is getting out.  NAHB will be rolling out their new Green Guidelines in late Feb.  I believe we will see more after that.  It is catching on in Houston pretty quick.   Great post!!

Hi Todd

You wrote in to a Realtor Gone Green and so i've come to check out your blog. Like you, I believe that there is a pent up demand for LEED home construction, especially in our corner of the country. I would love nothing more than to see more, and work with, truly green builders/developers. I say; get your word out - you could have quite a niche market!

Thanks for the comment.  According to Next Energy.  Clouds and trees can greatly reduce how effective the solar panels can be.  If you want further explanation call Shannon Koffman he would love to answer your questions.  (415) 710-7008
