Boise and the surrounding communities are taking advantage of the economy and expanding businesses throughout the valley.  Mom & Pop stores are still popping up and national retailers are expanding locations.

Below are just a few businesses either coming to the Boise market or expanding their presence.

Les Schwab Tire Center on Jan. 10, 2012 plans to open a 12,500-square-foot store with eight service bays at 3550 E. Ticate Lane in Meridian Idaho.  The Meridian permit values the building at $1.2 million

Recently, Go Lite opened its first Boise location downtown near the intersection of 9th Street and Main Street.  The outdoor-driven company focuses on lightweight and environmentally sustainable products, which should allow it to compete in an outdoors-friendly town that includes a North Face store a few blocks away.

The new Rosauer’s Supermarket is under construction behind McDonald’s at the intersection of Eagle Road/Ustick Road in Meridian, Idaho.  The new store will open Spring 2012 and employ approximately 120 people.  This will be the first Rosauer's location in the Treasure Valley.

Recently, I informed you of the recent construction on a new Whole Foods and Walgreen location near downtown Boise.  Read the full article here.  This is the first Whole Foods location in Idaho.

Fred Meyer's is keeping up with Rosauer's and Whole Foods by expanding it's locations. Construction of a 175,000-square-foot Fred Meyer store to anchor the planned Eagle Island Marketplace is underway in southwest Eagle.  The store will employ about 250 and slated to open June 2012. Costs are estimated at $31 million for the Fred Meyer store and $20 million for Eagle Island Marketplace.

Boise is taking advantage of the real estate market, creating employment, and giving consumers what they desire.
