The Small Things to Research Before Buying Real Estate!

By
Real Estate Agent with Alain Pinel Realtors

For everyone looking to buy a home I recommend a few things for you to do on your own.  Once you find a home that you like then that is when you need to start your research.  To start be sure you completely drive around the neighborhood.  Know exactly what is on every side of this home.  Know what else surrounds the neighborhood.

As soon as you reach a deal with the seller the clock starts to click.  You most likely have 10-17 days to figure out if you want to buy it.  So while your agent is scheduleing the inspections and running the escrow, you need to complete your research.  I suggest all home buyers to get to know the neighbors of this home.  Knock on their doors and you will be surprise how much you will learn.

Call the school district to make sure you get what you want.  A lot of schools in the Tri-Valley are full and that forces children to go to other schools.  I would hate for you to learn that your children will not attend the school you desire after you buy the home.

The police department can answer a lot of important questions.  You can find out if there is any activity in that neighborhood.  They are a great resource.

There are several little suggestion like this that are really important!  Please contact me to learn them all!

Dan - Great suggestions. I try to provide my buyers URLs and phone numbers for these types of things so they can thoroughly check them out themselves before they make their purchase.  It is such a big decision and so they must cover all the bases!
