North County San Diego Weekend Happenings Nov. 11-13, 2011
Today we honor and remember the men and women of the military that have fought to preserve the blessings and freedoms we enjoy everyday of our lives in this country.
One of many noteworthy events happening today, the President and Mrs. Obama will be in town to watch North Carolina play Michigan State in the inaugural Carrier Classic college basketball game on board the deck of the USS Carl Vinson in San Diego Bay. Joining them will be around 7,000 members of the armed services who will view the game from grandstands built on the flight deck.
FRIDAY
Lake Poway Trout Season Kickoff - Lake Poway has been stocked with 3000 rainbow trout for the opening of trout season, which runs through April. Gates open at sunrise Wednesday-Sundays. Permits can be purchased at Lake Poway Grill and Tackle, 14644 Lake Poway Rd 858-668-4774
Dixon Lake Trout Derby - Bring the entire family to Dixon Lake for the 33rd annual Trout Derby—a fun-filled event that offers anglers of all ages many ways to win great prizes. 6am-4:45pm through Nov 13th. 1700 N La Honda Dr., Escondido. Head to Toe Women's Expo - Del Mar Fairgrounds. There will be more than 200 vendor booths, cooking demonstrations, and health screenings hosted by Scripps Health at this year's event and over 10,000 people are expected to attend.
