A study by the non profit group Blue Green Alliance  was released this week which suggests North Carolina's has a potential  to add 20,000 new manufacturing jobs.

If Congress passes a national clean energy  bill standard, hundreds of those  jobs may be coming to New Hanover County.

There are currently at least thirty companies in New Hanover County that could expand into to production geared toward for renewable energy sources, such as wind farms and solar panels.

Alex Mohajer with advocacy group Environment North Carolina  says for the bill to pass we need to urge our local Congressmen like Mike McIntyre n NC to support  these bills before Congress. Mr McIntyre voting record shows he voted against an amendment for a renewable energy standard, although he did vote for the Clean Energy Bill itself.

Another report by the Renewable Energy Policy Project  found that New Hanover County could get close to 400 new jobs from focusing on renewable energy such as wind turbines and solar panels

Hi Ginger,
That sure would be good for the Wilmington area (and you!).  We must take care of our environment.

This is great to know.  I don't hear as much about these "green" opportunities in our Charlotte area but anyway that we can increase the focus on going green in NC is wonderful!

Ginger~

Interesting information. I love the idea of alternative energy sources...wouldn't it be great if we could relay on things other than oil???

Ginger - these renewable energy policies will be good for all of us. Thank you for urging people to contact their representatives. Our dependence on foreign oil is crippling our country.

In Michigan, we import 80% of our power and have an impending energy crisis projected by 2014. It is important these policies pass at both federal and state levels for the betterment of our economies and our environment. Thanks for the great post!

Ginger: This is wonderful!! I already did the contact thingy. Let's hope this passes! What a wonderful boost to NC economy it would be. (If you get too busy selling all those homes to new buyers, I'll come help you.)

Thanks Ginger for the links and information. If we don't take care of our environment, we will not have one to take care of. It is also great for the Hanover area to create more jobs and hopefully, more buyer's for you.

Hi Ginger, thanks for the heads up on this and for making it so easy to write our representatives. I was glad to see our local Southport boy Bonner Stiller on the co-sponsor list. As I would have expected,  RC Soles is absent on the Senate side. I've already sent the contact form. I think green is building up a huge amount of steam...I'm amazed how it seems to be snowballing. Thanks for posting this.
