Where's Your Humanity? I found mine this week when I had the honorable pleasure of volunteering for Habitat for Humanity at NAR's Convention in Anaheim, California. And what a pleasure it was!
I've always been pretty good at building things. When I was a little girl, I used to play with Lincoln Logs instead of Barbies. I loved building 'play' houses... it felt good to create something with my hands. And fortunately for Habitat for Humanity, my childhood creations paved the way for building dreams... one home at a time.
This week, I was part of a team of Realtors®who built three homes for Habitat for Humanity. It felt good to wear the blue shirt with the Realtor® logo on the back while pounding away with our hammers. There was enormous pride in the room when we saw our finished 'framed' houses being raised... definitely a teary-eyed moment. It's a good feeling to give back. It's even better when you can give back to a profession thats been wild, crazy and rewarding at the same time. When you put your heart and soul into something like Habitat for Humanity... passion begins and dreams just happen!
My Habitat for Humanity Realtor® Friends For Life!
Melicious! You never fail to astound me with your Give Back Attitude. In your very busy life, you still fit in doing something BIG for man/womankind. "Kind" in the best sense of the word. So glad you got to sign your art, too! (And as always, you shine in all of your photos...gotta love that as an extra bonus.)
I have gone down to tijuana 5 times with the Rotary and built a home for a family in need. They were so grateful and at the end of the day when we turned the keys over to the Lady with her 5 kids, no husband it was very emotional.
Thank you and God bless you for taking care of those less fortunate.
It's a kick Karen... and you really do learn a few things about building!
I love this Judi... 'giving that all elusive unconditional love.'
Oh Raye... that's fabulous! You rock!
Thanks Liane... I'm glad you stopped by ;)
Thanks Kris.. that's what I dig most about your posts too sweetie!
It's definitely a natural high Cynthia!
Beth ~ You and your Stager friends will love the experience!
Kimo ~ You've touched on something that is also near and dear to my heart... I'm a survivor! The AmberWatch Foundation is doing something so worthwhile... thanks for sharing it!
Mel -- very empowering...demonstrating practical humanity at it's fullest by reaching out to the most vulnerable. Brilliant show of empathy, compassion and role model. Thank you for a great and meaningful post. Namaste! Peter
Mel -- forgive me my charge...had to 'ride' back to you...to open the English-German dictionary to fully understand the meaning of 'exhorter'...
I believe, you're not just voluntering in the name of humanity by taking on personal role models and open up to greater responsability, well, through your action you create a larger circle of followers aligned in affinity and unity to help create a better world based on truthfulness, social justice, love, truth, peace and freedom....in tomorrow's new world...Namaste. Peter
Just admire how you fit it all in. Habitat for Humanity is on top of my list and dermined to do it soon... considering what we do, how could we not help build for those who can't afford and need a home. Bless your heart Mel, for the amount of giving you feel.

What goes around, comes around. Good deeds out tend to invite good things in.
Along with a few others, my question is - how do they move them after you've put them together indoors?
