The Coralville Center for the Performing Arts has become one of my favorite places to write about when it comes to my posts about what to do in the Iowa City area at the weekends. There is so much variation in their program that I end up introducing something new almost every week.
Flavors: A Feast of Dance and Music from India is the program that caught my eye for this week. This is a chance to learn a little about India and support a good cause too as proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The performance will showcase major classical dance and music forms of India, including songs from Bollywood. And if you're like me and have no idea what Bollywood is, let me save you googling it and tell you it's the popular term used for the Hindi language film industry. (You're not surprised are you? I wasn't either).
Where & When can you enjoy this feast of dance? Saturday November 12, 2011 - 5.00pm - 7.30pm.
Not only can you take a peak at Indian culture on the stage, you'll also be treated to box snacks and Indian tea at the end of the program.
The show is presented by the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Eastern Iowa and the Sangeet Nite Troup.
Tickets are $20 general admission. $15 for students. Free admission for children under 6.
You can buy tickets online OR Call 319-248-9370 OR you can stop by The CCPA at 1301 5th St, Coralville.
