In conjuntion with Cedar City's birthday celebration The Frontier Homestead State Park is hosting Iron Mission Days Special Community Day. Held from 10:00am to 4:00pm with pioneer activities, crafts for kids, and living history demonstrations. There are some fun things for adults.  New this year will be stations offering gold panning, wagon loading, and baking in a new earthen oven. All activities held at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N. Main, Cedar City). Additionally, the recently completed water wheel is going to be turning, and volunteers are providing tours of the nearly complete Hunter House. The cost is $5 per family. For information call 435-586-9290.

This sounds like fun, so if the weather permits, come and check out the Iron Mission Days!

Tony and Darcy

The gold panning event sound really great/

If they teach you how to pan for gold and you go out on a weekend and get lucky

with gold at $1800 per ounce  one big nugget would be nice.

Great post!

Joni, It would be a great opportunity for parents that home school their children!  Thank you for stopping by!

Jeanean, I would be attending them, but we are at NAR in Anaheim.  We're having a blast, but are unable to attend these great activitities!

Leolinda, Sorry, but these I am just writing about from afar, we're at NAR in Anaheim.  I did go to some great classes today!

Jennifer, Thank you!  It sounds like a lot of fun!

Esperanza, That is the truth!  It wouldn't take many nuggets at $1800 an ounce!

The last time I went gold panning was a couple of decades ago at Knott's Berry Farm. I was in college, but it still was a lot of fun.
