White Squirrel

Our friend Ruth Murphy provided this shot of an albino squirrel in Centerville, Maryland. This is a very unusual Maryland squirrel. Maybe this image is good luck!

If you have some special pictures, please share them in the comments for this post.

Thanks so much for your comments.  If you Google "white squirrel" you will see that they have been seen in many parts of the country.  However, they are very rare.

Thanks, Gayle, for sharing your beautiful photograph.

Roy, good luck it is in our books....a bit of a risk in a squirrel's world. We had two albino fawns where we use to live. They probably had a better chance living in the suburbs. We back up to Churn Creek and the creek spanned a mile or so (across)....of wildlands. Living in the City but on the border of a thoroughfare for the wildlife. We loved it. Hope this little guy is doing well along with our fawns...now grown up! They were beautiful!

Roy, The little guy will have lots of cover when the snow comes. Not that I'm real anxious to see snow.

Hi Roy,

I have never seen a white squirrel. It is about the cutest little critter I have ever seen. I do not think we have them in California. I just love it. I didn't think you could surprise me but you did.

This is my friends cat Vaska. He is even prettier in person.

I wonder if a cat or dog got a little to close to catching him and scared him white?  ;-)

I learn so much from ActiveRain postings - and I wasn't aware there were white squirrels (an albino, perhaps?).  We just have little black squirrels and larger grey ones in our area of BC!
