This is a lovely morning photo of the sun rising in Santa Cruz, California. The winds were calm, and the temperatures cool.

 

 

Being a novice at picture taking, it is not always easy getting the lighting right, this one seemed to be okay.  J

Love the picture.  I take a walk in the morning almost 3 or 4 times a week to catch my Santa Cruz Sunrise.  I love living here.  I spent about 5 years living in Sacramento and my sister is still there.  We go back and forth about 6 or so times a year.

Tom - I remember a couple of years ago, my daughter, grandkids and I were traveling to a little place just south of Santa Cruz.  We were sitting on a cliff, slightly above the water, when the sunset began.  I was snapping photos right and left, when my daughter (who has a degree in Photo Journalism) took the camera and waited a minute or two and then snapped off about 3 perfect pictures.  She told me there was a little trick about sunrises, that they ignite brightest just before they duck below the horizon.  But I want you to know I like your's too.  There's no such thing as a bad sunset:-)

Shoot - I must be having a really "blonde" day.  I just re-read your subject line, and realized your photo is of a sunrise, not a sunset as I mentioned in my previous comment.  Sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference in photos.  Heck on some days, I can't even tell whether its morning or night when I wake up. . .LOL
