Thanks for the history lesson on this lovely building. I wonder if Norman Rockwell did any of his painting there? I love his work.
Beautiful description Mitchell. I'm surprised at the permisiveness of sub-lets. It would seem that would encurage investment buyers. I suppose investment buyers are important in that market.
Buautiful old building.
Mitchell.... Jennifer beat me to the punchline. But yes, thanks for the history lesson. You have a lot of great buildings and architecture in NYC.
Lenn, Sublets are allowed but not investors. You can only sublet 2 out of 4 years. Owners usually have to live in the apartment the 1st year then they can sublet for 2 years but must move back into the apartment after 2 years.
Jeff, Thank you and thanks for stopping by.
Melissa, Thank you it is a wonderful building.
Mitchell, I really enjoyed this post. have to admit it made me a little nostalgic for the Big Apple.

Hello Mitchell,
Intriguing historical building and I love the tall windows. My windows where I presently live are floor to ceiling and I absolutely love the light...I face west and one of my windows faces southwest with a view of the bay so the afternoon sun is beyond description.
I love these old buildings...their architectural features are always unique and imaginative and I get lost in time gazing up at them when I am in historical districts.
What direction does this building face?

Hi Jo-Anne,
Your home sounds magnificent. The building is on the north side of the street - it has studios with artists northern light and studios with southern light that face the street. The whole block of w 67th street off central park is made up of studio buildings.
More info: The NY Times Streetscapes wrote about it back in 2000.
