Poster for Newtown Arts production of The Sound of MusicThe hills are alive in Newtown!

What better way for Newtown Arts Company to end their 2011 Season and to usher in the holidays than a production of Rogers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music?  This beloved and

popular final collaboration of Broadways' renowned composer and lyricist is an excellent entertainment choice as families prepare to celebrate the holiday season.

Love, loss and survival are central themes in this heartwarming musical based on the story of The Von Trappe Family Singers. The musical showcases some of Rogers and Hammerstein's most famous songs including Do-Re-Mi, Climb Every Mountain and the signature The Sound of Music.

Six times a year, the Newtown Arts Company assembles a fine cast and crew to entertain, educate and inform its loyal audience.

Comedy, musicals, mystery, farce - all are treated with professional acting, directing and staging by this talented company. Don't miss the opportunity to start the holiday season on a musical note.

Performances run from December 1 through December 7. Reserve your tickets early!

The hills are alive in Newtown, come join the fun!

Great show!  Believe it or not, years ago when I was involved in Community Theater, I played Uncle Max in "The Sound of Music".  Excellent localism post.

Seeing this classic is always a treat.  A couple years back one of our local theatre featured the movie, patrons came dressed as the characters and sang along to the subtitles.  What a hoot.  A fun time was had by all.

GReat story and awesome musical. Anything based on a true story is somehow cooler in my mind. Not easy stuff the perform either.
