Don't Let The End Of The Year Stop You

By
Education & Training with RealtyU

Many agents seem to take the final 5 weeks of the year off ... why?  There are some key times in peoples lives and many resolve around the end of the year.  This is the time to plan for the next year.

Consumers use the end of the year to think about what they must do next year ... maybe it is college or a new job or a shift in lifestyle.  They may need to consider selling their home or refinancing, this is your time to be involved.

Agents should be using the end of the year to plan next year, yes that means Business Planning.  Also this is a time to setup your first mailing of the new year.  Get the mailing prepared now as well as your December mailing so that you are not trying to beat the crowds and mail carriers to get your mailing out.

A little planning can make the difference between a good New Year.

Hi Allen

I sure agree with you. Many agents give it up on the last quarter instead of levering this time of year to give them a great start to 2oo8. And it is the time todo business planning

I'm still trying to get the most out of 2007 ... but yes, planning for 2008 is the other big item on the list! Good post Allen. By the way, I have a client looking for a great deal on a 2 bedroom condo in your area. If you have anything below market, let me know.

I'm trying to close all of my business before years end, so the last 5 weeks are going to be high pressure. I couldn't imagine taking this time of the year off.

Planning for next year is something that occurs throughout the year and making sure it is place before the end of the year is important. No time off here though....

I have to admit I do a lot of planning, but I really take it easy from Thanksgiving through the New Year. But I'm always rested and relaxed and ready to go come Jan 2.

This time of the year is on some ways the busiest as you look back and try to figure out what you did right and wrong

I tell my clients that buyers don't hibernate in the winter, agents do.  I have always had my best sales months regardless of what industry I was in December-February.

Thanks for the comments ... yes planning is a year round process not just April 14th (yes I said the 14th because as a former accountant I had many people come in the 14th)

Thanks again for the comments

I totally agree. The end is a good time to handle those last minute holiday home shoppers. Also to clean out the old files, box them up and get ready for the new ones. Good time to plan for the next year. a clean, fresh start.

I feel like there's way more to do in the next few weeks than at other times of the year...but it seems that the activities are more fun.  It's a good time for me to do prospecting and more face-to-face contact with my sphere.  Also planning, bookkeeping, filing, etc etc etc, and on top of that I have to COOK and BAKE! And buy presents...

Allen - I don't know why, but the 4th quarter has always been my busiest.  It's been a blessing and curse but I take it in stride.  I know my Christmas cards and gifts will be out in time and I already have my January mailing ready.  Planning, planning, planning....that make life so much easier!
