It’s Time To Share Your Real Story,
November is National Novel Writing Month
November is national novel writing month and we want you to seriously consider doing just that.
Have you ever considered writing?
It could be to share your story, or it could be to share the story you have always wished was yours, and wanted to tell?
In my opinion, EVERYONE has a story to share. Some of us have great imaginations and can conjur up far away lands and ecelectic characters. Others are Pfanntastic at bringing life to our past experiences.
Others just need to start writing… …it is HIGHLY therapeutic.
The best way to start?
No matter what you want to write, just start daily journaling.
Keep your journal posts private… and safe. Keep writing every single day of the week – even if it is just 15 minutes a day.
There are medical research studies that show the health benefits of journaling. And in honor of national novel writing month… I wanted to give you a kick start on this… and hopefully inspire you to start.
Some thoughts on how to get going:
- Pick the same time of the day to write.
- Early mornings are a great time for many.
- Nights work best for others.
- Try different times of the day and see which feels more natural and creative.
- Pen and paper.
- Computers are wonderful, but not nearly as therapeutic as a good old pen on paper.
- It gives you more time to gather your thoughts… and something magical happens when pen touches paper.
- Pick your place.
- Find a place that nurtures your creativity and desire for “you” time.
- Sometimes that is a coffee shop.
- Other times it is that spare bedroom and a desk that you never use.
- Go back to the same place, at the same time, every day for a month.
- Set a timer.
- Start with 15 minutes at a time.
- Then go to 30.
- Then 45. Etc.
- You will find that this becomes one of your favourite times of the day.
- If you are stuck on what to write about… pick something in the room, anything, and start writing about it.
-
Or just start writing about how you have nothing to write about.
- Writers block is all in the mind, so you need to get out of your head and just start writing.
- The words quickly start to flow when you ignore feeling ‘stuck’
- Pick your favourite ‘writing hat’ or sweater.
- Develop your own writing ritual.
- Put on some soothing music.
- Baroque usually is a great background for your creative writing time.
The key to any of this though?
- To just get started.
- It all sounds good in theory… and the best of intentions may be made.
- But you have to write.
- Every day.
- Think about having your book in print.
- The people’s lives you can touch.
- The relatives of yours that will love your legacy.
Writing is a Pfanntastic thing and today is the time to start!

HI Barbara,
You know, before blogging I actually would go out of my way not to have to write, now it is a bad day if I don't, things change and who know what magic lurks in all your pfanntastic blogs......;)
HI Deb,
Not read Julie Cameron, but thanks for the tip, I have heard of the write anything therapy, and know from first hand that it works very well
Hi Cheryl,
The Pfanntastic word play has become a bit of a game with us trying to find new ways to use it every day.... Great Idea to start writing your story it is a lot easier than you think by just taking it one word at the time....
Jerry,
a man with so many amazing stories in him, your book would be a pfanntastic read, as would many other I am sure.
HI Jenifer,
Many great books and stories have been hidden in Journals for centuries, be sure to share your treasures.
Hi Joy,
With a name and logo like yours, the story is already half written, from your blogs I know that the other half is done as well, you really looking for your 2nd and 3rd book now
Hi Patricia,
We all look in awe to people like yourself, with such an amazing track record of blogging, and of a caliber that shines, and you think you have a book in you....... you have an entire library in you.....;)
HI Brian,
You and I should collaborate on a Canadian cross country moving book, I think that would work very well... We always appreciate your amazing technical skills.
Hi Donna,
I know exactly the topic...... Here it is......... "DONNA", what do you think.....
Hi Joni,
That is just down right Pfunny...... You of all people who connects by way of words, pictures and spirit with more people, emotions and kindness, you have so many books in you it would make the world a better place if they could read your stories..... make a coffee table book, I know you have not only the talent, but also the guidance and calling for it.
Hi Sharon,
Baroque music is a real magical rhythm and tempo to relax and open the mind to free flowing thought, it works pfantastically
Hi Joan,
You know it will be to you and your loved ones, to share your story and your legacy, many "personal stories" have become life changers for not just the writers but many people around them even if it never was published.....
My dad has written down some of his childhood memories. I am thankful, since we did not hear these stories growing up. My grandmother always said I should be a writer...but I think I'd much rather be a realtor (a bloggin' realtor though, so it's a compromise, right?)
You are so correct about it being therapeutic. I don't know if I could write a book, but blogging serves as a very good creative outlet for me.
Hi Sonja,
Sure is a compromise, but you could be both...... just a thought, as you were thank ful fot your dad' stories so will others to read yours.....
Hi Sandy,
Blogging is a great outlet with many similar creative benefits of writing your story, but not as personal obviously...
Haven't listened to Baroque in a very long time. Don't know how much writing I'll do, but it's a good reason to go back through my music collection.
Hi--this is a great idea and I have had people tell me to do this before, and I just never have. I think I will take you up on this challenge and see where it goes.
Well, this is something that I have thought about for YEARS! I had no idea that there was actually a month dedicated to writing but, you've really inspired me to get started. I love this post and your tips are phanntastic! You're also correct about writing being therapeutic--especially in our business. Some days it feels good just to get an experience off of your chest and hear what others would have done in your situation. I don't do that often enough.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi John,
with just right ambiance, and a little baroque who knows what inspiration will create you a master piece.
Hi Janet,
We are looking forward to see your master piece on the best sellers list....
Hi Debe,
We are excited to see be inspired by the post, and with your great talents I am positive that you have more than a few pfanntastic stories to share..... can't wait.
I've never been good at fiction - but I guess I could give it a try.
Writing is something I've done for a very long time now. From my original journal to my now four blogs. Writing does provide an emotional outlet, encourges the thought process, and helps us discover solutions to issues. Thanks for sharing this.
I haver all to do just in preparing a blog post. A novel or even a long short story are well beyond my capabilities, unless I write one of those 'How To' books, and work backwards from almost everything I've done wrong with my life.
Peter and Linda, very good tips for getting those words down on paper. These tips will also work for blogging. Thanks.
HI Ruthmarie,
If it is your story, it would not be fiction, more like autobiographical and with yout blogging talents, is would be a breeze.
HI Sebastian,
With your background and experience, I can see you teach us all how to go about the process and details......
HI Ed,
works for me, in writing anything it is a process, a thought on paper, develeped into a series of sentences, expanded into pages and chapters.. If you look at your current library of blogs...... I bet you there is an entire book there already.
HI Michael,
Sure they do, and if you blog with a few distinct themes and topics, they will become the books that you hoped to write in the first place.....
I've thought about it. My sister writes, and has had some things published- it sounds like a real thrill to see something of yours for sale in a real bookstore. I just can't find time, though.
Hi Leslie,
sure you can find some time, 15 minutes, may be 30..... we can all do it if we really wanted to, while having coffee, lunch, down time between appointments, you nake it, getting published is cool, writing the story of your life leaves a legacy, how cool is that.
I always thought that you guys were of above average intelligence, showing clear evidence of creative passion, self expression, and joie de vivre behind wise eyes. Quit real estate now before you get ruined.
HI Steve and Jan,
thanks Steve, I know what you mean, although I must admit, we are having more fun with real estate now, than ever before, not that it is easier, but we appreciate it more and the relationships mean more.
Funny... I've been working on a couple of books for a long time. A few years back I kind of wrote myself into a corner and couldn't get out. That's when I started blogging (about 6 years ago). I thought if I could write short things well it would get me back in shape to tackle the bigger projects. Thanks for the provocation, tips, and encouragement. This is a very sincere blog post and I love its unbridled honesty. What a great thing to encourage people to do.
Hi Rene',
The hope and wish for all of us (frustrated authors) is to take that leap, and get out of our own way so to speak and hopefully finish what we have started, even if it is just to be able to say so..... This is MY STORY!
Happy writing.
