Dom taste....Beer pocketbook

Buyers are still looking for those great big houses.....but don't want, or worse, can't pay for them. I've spent this entire week trying to bring clients into reality.....I'm drained.

And I want my clients to get the most for their money. I want them to be happy in their new home....but come on now. If you can only afford a certain dollar amount, stop asking me to show you houses way  over that price, in hopes that the Seller will entertain $50,000+ less than asking.

This is true for me also.  Clients are on the fence while the interest rates are still great!

I just wrote a little about this in my blog post yesterday.  I totally agree and find it very frustrating.  When my husband and I were looking for a house 8 years ago, we were looking for potential.  As in, buy the most space in the best neighborhood you can afford. We had no illusions that we would be able to get anything close to remodeled, let alone 2 whole bathrooms.  But over the years we have increased our equity by at least $200,000 through the passage of time and by making improvements.  Luckily in our little cosmetic fixer there was space in the home to add another bathroom and bedroom.

Not intending to toot my own horn here at all...I just wish that more buyers could have vision and see the potential in buying something within their means rather than stretching too far for something that's not within their reach.

Sorry, I forgot to leave my name in that last rambling comment. I'm a newbie to AR.

This is definitely a probleall over.  Its certainly driving me up a wall.  The moderating market is causing buyers to get stars in their eyes.  They think they can have it ALL - RIGHT NOW!!!! Sorry, it doesn't work that way. If your expectations are so far flung from reality as to make no sense at all - you are not a buyer - you are a lookie lou.

Amen.  How many lowball offers do they need to have rejected before they get it?
