There are people who come into our lives who change them forever...there are animals, too. This is SUCH an inspiring story of a "true love"--two who found each other and have spread their love and message across the continent.

Thank you, Peg, for giving horses another chance and for sharing this amazing story--that makes you laugh and cry!

A Horse Is Horse of Course, Of Course... Canadian Singing Horse

I grew up around horses. My sister was and still is horse crazy.

I was bit on my chest when I was 5 (was bruised from navel to neck and still carry a scar) and had nightmares (no pun intended) for years. I guess I got over them eventually, because my sister made me get on horses over and over again throughout my life. She never understood how I could be afraid of a horse.

We even went on a trail ride on our Honeymoon in Jasper...

This wonderful story about a woman and her horse was very touching.

I sent it on to my sister, who raises Peruvian Paso horses for sale (AVO Peruvians) & competition, and wanted to share it with you as well!

I've seen this story before but could watch it a million more times. It's amazing how animals can change our lives and fill a space that nothing else could as Shargra's done in Phyllis' life. Being a recovering alcoholic, I know how we need to fill our lives with positive things, while giving back and this is a perfect example of how we stay sober. I don't think about drinking at all anymore, but it's because I've filled my life with God, wonderful people, I give back in many ways which gives me purpose and Lucy is my Shagra! Great reblog GF - I'd love to own a horse some day - they are magnificent animals!

Gayle,

Great message, love Kristine's comment.  Regardless who we are or we have been, we need to surround ourselves with positive, and find the good in everything, i.e., see perfection in every moment.  I think that is why we love animals so much.  I love horses have never ridden one (have not created the opportunity).  I find them regal and elegant.  A

What a great re-blog and I would have missed it.  A truly inspiring post not only about Shargra but Phyllis' ability to overcome ... with a mere $300 she had earned in prison (no less) she spent it on a horse.  And put her love into a creature that was abused and neglected . . . only to love and nurture . . . what a great story!  Love can do so much!!

That horse Gayle truly has a personality, they all do you know. Such a great companion and best friend. Animals can heal us of many of our problems.
