29th Annual Lighting of the Doves in The Woodlands TX - November 19, 2011

Has it been nearly 30-years since the Woodlands started the annual Lighting of the Doves Festival?

This year as in recent years Lighting of the Doves Festival in the Woodlands, TX will again be held adjacent to Town Green Park along the Woodlands Waterway.  This marks the official kick off for the Christmas season here in the Woodlands, TX.  My family and I have been in the Conroe/Woodlands Area for over 25 years.  This year the event will be as grand as ever and this Saturday November 19, 2011 there will be plenty to do for families in the Woodlands.  Here's what's happening:

First, last week the Ice Rink at Woodlands Town Center had their preview weekend.  And this weekend November 19, 2011 the Ice Rink at Woodlands Town Center will be open daily through January 16, 2012.  In addition The Woodlands Winter Wonderland will be open daily from November 19, 2011 to January 2, 2012 adjacent to the Woodlands Ice Rink

Second, The International Winter on the Waterway or iWOW is a fun filled afternoon that all starts at 3pm adjacent to Town Green Park.  iWOW has loads of activities from a Snow play area and Snow Slide to a variety of Family entertainment acts on 3 stages!   It will all wrap up with the Arrival of Santa.  Santa will make his grand entrance in a special boat decorated handsomely by his elves along The Woodlands Waterway followed by a reading of the popular poem, ‘Twas the Night before Christmas.

Finally, will be the 29th Annual Lighting of the Doves.  As Paula McDonald pointed out it has been held in the same location for 29 years

OH and don't forget the special mailbox for Santa's letters!!  Santa has enlisted the helpers at Ace Hardware of The Woodlands @ 10720 Kuykendahl Road and every letter will be placed on the Polar Express in time to reach the North Pole so that Santa will pack all of the children's toys for delivery on Christmas eve.  If you want to see when Santa will arrive in The Woodlands you can always check the Official NORAD Santa Tracker.

This is the most wonderful time of the year to be in The Woodlands Texas this will be a great start to the Christmas season!  I hope you enjoy it as much as my family.
