Bedford completed a town wide valuation update with values as of April 1, 2008; the previous complete re-assessment was in 2004, The 2008 update project was conducted by in-house staff with the assistance of Vision Appraisal, with review by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration.

Legislation passed in 2002 states that each municipality must "value anew" all property at least once every five years, beginning in 2003. In Bedford's year of assessment review, 2003, it was determined based on both assessment statistics and that the last revaluation in Bedford was in 1987 Bedford had to perform a complete revaluation for 2004. As such the first update occurred for April 1, 2008, and the next update/re-assessment will be scheduled for April 1, 2013.

The Town of Bedford bills for property taxes twice a year, and the bills are due July 1 and December 1 of each year. The July bill, known as the spring bill, is for the period from April 1 through September 30, The December bill, known as the fall or final bill, is for the period from October 1 through March 31 of the next year. The actual tax year is from April 1 through March 31 the following year, as opposed to a calendar year from January 1 through December 3
