11 Comments on Busting out the Floppy Discs
Oh no, not the floppy. My computer doesn't have a slot for that and almost forgot what they look like....
I've never heard of the "system fix virus" but I'd suggest searching Google for details. Rather than work with floppies, what about a USB drive? Boot from CD should work as well. For removal, I'd suggest using AVG.
Hi Tom - Wow! I think I threw out all my floppys years ago, and none of our 5 computers even has a slot for one. It's either CD or USB for us.
Edward and Celia - Yes, a trip down memory lane. :)
USB, DVD, E-mail, all shut down Bryan. The floppies were a desparate attempt to introduce a file into the computer. I gotta get into it first.
Dick, I know what you mean. things kep changing for the better right?
Tom: I've kept all my old computers including the "tower" just in case I wanted to look at some of my many floppies. You have brought back memories. Just for laughs, I should look at some of them dating back about 15? years. But to restore anything now on new computers? Is that even possible?
All you old computers? You live in a warehouse Hella? lol
It is possible to restore on a new computer. Thanks for your comment.
This sounds like a challenge at the least. My computer doesn't have a floppy slot either but you can get one added on a USB port. I know a good computer tech in Rocklin if you need one.
Tom, I use "free" AVG for virus and I remember "the floppy"...... Also I bought UniBlue PowerSuite that covers everything.
Doug - thanks for the info still haven't had a chance to work with the problem. The virus apparently doesn't harm files; it hides them and protects itself.
I heard AVG is good, will check it out if I can get into the computer Teri.
Tom, last year I got "hit" with a really bad virus that sent every alert "known to man" off..... then my computer went "black". I unplugged and put my laptop in the front seat of my car and rushed (safely) right to the computer ER.... my "geek" laptop expert. It cost me $80.00, but she saved everything, cleaned it up, and had installed the AVG for me. Then I got the Uniblue Suite, and on Tammy Emineth's advice got Backblaze to backup everything.... hope you got it figure out...
This is all new to me Teri, I will follow up on this advice. My first virus!
