Speechless Sunday - Merrie Monarch Festival

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Criado Realty 0548772

The most beautiful form of dance I have ever personally experienced is the Hula Kahiko. Not only because of the dance but the verbal and non-verbal Hawaiian poetry (chants) that show the love of their culture and history. The Kane (men) is more interesting to me in that it is rare to see men show such passion and creativity in a masculine format.

I lived in Hawaii on two separate occasions and found my second home away from Texas. One thing I've always wanted to see is the Merry Monarch Festival, live. I have watched it on television. I've seen Kahiko live on a few occasions, but the festival is a showcase of ALL the islands' top talent.

Today I am featuring two performances that are from the Merry Monarch Festival.

The Hula Kahiko is the ancient form of dancing.

Take a look at the last photo - just for fun!

Cathy, I bet that dance was fun to learn!     I was there several years ago, and tried, but think my hips don't move that way!

I love Hawaii too. I have had the good pleasure to visit a couple of times. First time we island hopped and saw three. Last time we spent all our time on one island exploring it. Thanks for the memories. Kudos to you jumping out there and particiapting.
