The Most Important Skill Necessary For A GREAT Listing Agent?

Analyzing statistics?many jobs of a Realtor

Good follow-up skills?

Closing techniques?

Time management?

Ad copy writer?

Efficient Open House Planner?

the list of an agent's duties goes on and on and on...........

Well, what about this habit or skill.....

What about engaging and getting the attention of consumers on social media?!

According to the book, Socialnomics by Erik Qualman, consumers will no longer search for a product or service........products or services will find us via social media.

Qualman's research revealed that only 14% of consumers trust advertisements, however 78% trust peer recommendations.

So, perhaps the habit of placing an ad in the local paper or homes magazine is not only old-fashioned but is in fact, out-dated and ineffective.  Perhaps the agent  who concentrates on direct mail could be out-of-sync with the buying public?

Maybe, just maybe the agent who is well-versed on Facebook, Youtube, Linkedin, Twitter and blogging is not only the most modern and informed Realtor, they may be the most effective?

Don't get me wrong, an agent still needs to possess all of those skills listed above.

Realtors still need to keep and utilize many marketing tools in their arsenal, but in my humble opinion one of the first conversations a potential Seller needs to have with an agent is about their social media presence.  If the agent gets that 'deer in the headlights' expression on their face, that Seller should move on to the next Realtor!

"We don't have a choice on whether we DO social media, the question is how well we DO it."  ~ Erik Qualman

Chris - Interesting post.  As agents we need to wear a lot of hats, and Social Media is one of them.

Good morning Chris;  these figures are mind bogging, and too many people post things that are better left un-posted, and they never go away.  For good copy it's great, but for the junk, not good.

Celebrating 24 Years in Real Estate!

Good morning, Rick.  Sometimes all of the areas that we Realtors need to be good at is overwhelming, isn't it?

Hi, Josh...THANK YOU so much for your kind wishes!  I hope 2012 is a wonderful year for all of us!

Laura, we talk about those hats all of the time in our office. We need bigger closets, huh?!

Hi, Kenneth!  Nice to see you again.  "Ain't that the truth?!"
