How do they get the pear in the Williams Birne Pear Brandy?

I really wanna know. Seriously... I've been distracted by this thought all afternoon (silly grin). I hear it takes approximately an average of 30 pounds of pears to create one 750ml bottle of Pear Brandy.

Hmm... I'm picking up a lot of vacation trivia while hanging out in Texas (LOL). ;-)

Today's little adventure: I had a Mudslide in vanilla Hagen Daz (that was mad yummy).

Tonight's little adventure: We're going into Dallas to try Thairriffic out for dinner. Looking forward to it. I hear the food is slamming over there and the place is brand new...

Was lakeside earlier this afternoon in the rain in 48.9 degree weather on a photo-shoot at a very lovely campground. I'm sorting through a lot of eye candy for another YouTube (I've got 62 pictures to play with). There's a storm coming so I'm hoping I get something really cool to photograph in Dallas later...

So are you going to tell us how they get the pair in the bottle?

Hi C - It couldn't be simpler - the answer is that they actually grow it in the bottle. Really.

This Carolyn reminds me of the ship in the bottle things you see in the antique gift shops. FORM a glass bottle around the pear??

I have been wandering around with Melody trying to get an answer. I keep thinking there has to be a YouTube to this question somewhere because how could someone not show off this answer? That is a really neat trick... :-)

Hi C - It's really bumming me out that you guys don't believe me. Maybe you'll believe the Internet - if it says it there, it has to be true, right? http://www.chow.com/food-news/54127/how-do-they-get-a-pear-in-a-bottle-of-eau-de-vie/

Holy cow. Dick, we thought you were kidding. That's kinda cool. I hope I find pictures of that process. The idea fascinates me to no end. :-)

No, they really grow the pear inside the bottle, they tie bottles around pear buds, then the pears grow inside.
