SalesmanWhen you announce your desire to sell your house, you may be surprised at the number of real estate people who will want to represent you. They'll seem to come out of the woodwork. So you really won't have much trouble finding an agent -- but finding one that’s right for you can be a challenge. 

Oddly enough, while the decision to buy or sell a home is one of the most important financial decisions most people will ever make, many give little thought to choosing the agent that is best suited to their needs. Fact of the matter is, buying and selling real estate can be a complicated effort. That's why it is so important to find a professional you can trust to do the job right.

But how do you know which one will best represent your needs? 

Agents are often chosen solely on the recommendation of a friend, a sign in a neighbor's yard or an ad in the newspaper. But if you pick one at random you’ll probably come to regret it. Admittedly, finding the right agent will require you to do some research. But in the long run, choosing the right agent will save you time, effort and frustration in selling your home quickly for top dollar.

For the most part, the "pedigree" of the particular real estate agent you work with isn’t as important as the level of energy, commitment and the local knowledge he or she may have. And trying to find someone who embodies all the above can be a challenge. But, thankfully, there are steps you can take to accurately evaluate a real estate agent's potential success with your home.
