Thanksgiving is this week, and I’m so excited! This holiday means lots of people, lots of conversation and lots of detail!Thanksgiving Tips

If you are hosting Thanksgiving dinner at your Glenview home this year, here are some last-minute tips that you can do the day before to help ensure a successful Thanksgiving Day.

  • Pull frozen breads, sauces and desserts out to thaw Wednesday so they’re ready in time for dinner tomorrow.

  • Pay a little extra attention to your kitchen – mop floors and wipe down countertops since you will be using them at full capacity.

  • Buy or make extra ice so that you will have plenty for your guests’ cold beverages and cocktails.

  • Background music is an important part of any holiday. Gather the CDs you want to play, or create your Thanksgiving playlist early, so you will have everything ready to play Thanksgiving Day.

  • Make sure your bathroom is not only spotless, but also well-stocked for your guests. Place extra rolls of toilet paper somewhere so your guests can find them easily. Lay out extra hand towels and make sure the soap dispenser is filled to the top.

  • On the morning of the big day, be sure that your dishwasher and garbage cans are empty – they won’t stay that way for long.

  • Before the big day, test-drive your kitchen gadgets to make sure they are properly working – food processor, electric carving knife, blender, etc.

  • Put together a “spill kit” so that you are ready to quickly clean up any spills that are bound to happen.

  • Setting the table takes time, so fold your cloth napkins and set your table at least the day before. This way you can also be a little creative with the settings and configurations if you choose without feeling rushed.

These simple tips will help ease the pressure on you and will help make the holiday go smoothly for you and your guests. We here at The Marla Schneider Team wish you a very happy and safe Thanksgiving Day! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
