This is a great post I read today on being thankful this Thanksgiving day.  I thought it would be a great one to re blog so others could also learn something as well.

Via Christine Bohn, Gainesville, FL Residential Realtor® (RE/MAX Professionals, Inc.):

Over the last couple of weeks, I have tried to do some soul searching about my personal life and business life.  What do I consider good business decisions, and what do I what think are my mistakes?   I always find myself doing this during the holiday season each year.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.......and I have so many things to be thankful for, and won't share all my mushy family stuff with you now.   I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Real Estate BusinessIf you've stumbled on this post....Let me share thoughts on my real estate business.  I have become numb to the negative waves that surround us and our profession.  I don't let the statistics about Real Estate in general get me down.  I've learned that "LOCAL" is all that matters.  I started my real estate career in 1999, so I have seen the super high market and the low one too.  The best thing is, I have survived - actually thrived in the low/down market. The new term for that is "thrivival".

We've all got stories about the fast/high market.  We'd carry around plenty of blank forms so we could prepare offers on the hood of our cars.  Yep, over full-price, cash offers.  When presented to the listing agents, there were 3 other offers better than mine.  Those days are long gone.  New tools were needed.  New attitude & commitment to learn and grow began.

As our local market peaked and started the down slope in 2006....I discovered something that is directly related to my thrivival in this market..... I joined ActiveRain in July 2006.

Active-ChrisYes, I am VERY thankful for ActiveRain.  Everything that I have learned to THRIVE in the slow market is directly related to the learning, networking, and knowledge that come from the members in ActiveRain.

My membership in ActiveRain has generated business.  I've made great friends.  I've got a great referral network.  I've gotten an unlimited knowledge center.

The ActiveRain network has grown and grown - and so has my own real estate business!  Many of my original AR Mentors, AR Gods, and Tech Gurus are no longer active on ActiveRain....but we've all stayed linked together on other networks, groups, webinars, bar camps, conventions.    I didn't want to list names...or plaster faces of all the people that have influenced me over the years.....but I'm still following you all!  I still enjoy my time on AR, and my latest AR addiction is "calling shots", and finding great posts and content and hitting that suggest button.  It' impossible to subscribe to over 250,000 blogs...but, I'm still working the network.  Consider this a giant group hug to all of my blogging buddies.

In our business, Relationships are Everything!

Let’s connect on these great social networks:
