Hunter's Bar-b-que

The streets of Bandera are just now clearing of visitors and revelers after the start of deer hunting season and the kickoff on Friday with Hunter's Bar-b-que sponsored by the Bandera County Chamber of Commerce.

The Show Barn at Mansfield Park was the location of the festivities, food catered by Bill Miller's Bar b que, live music and silent and live auction was the order of the night.  It was a night to visit with old friends and make new ones.  Lots of networking going on, several vendors had set up shop in the show barn, from car dealers, to hunting ranches, hunting supplies, jewelry for the Mrs. and lots to do for the future hunters (under age 16).

Husband and I got to inspect and dream about a $59,000 pickup- I can see him in it!  I'd have to sell alot of real estate to pay for it- I need to get busy!  I had lots of competion there, ran into several realtors at the bar-b-que doing just what I was doing, making contacts and renewing old friendships.

Driving down Main Street was a slow process, 20 cars deep at the stoplight at Main & Cypress Streets- you could carry on an entire conversation with someone on the street while waiting for the light to change.  The bars were full and noisy, pity the people within earshot of the 11th St. bar.  We tried to have dinner at our most romantic restaurant, Bricks, ended up waiting 1 hour for our food, and mine was cold.  Oh, well, one must make sacrifices for the sake of tourism!

Come Monday we'll have our town back, except for occasional gunshots, I'm looking forward to the calm.
