Part 2 of Chapter 3:

The Thanksgiving meal had been wonderful.  Ava's stomach had allowed her to enjoy it with no incidences.  She had planned on announcing to Jacob and the family that she and Jacob were going to have a new addition to the family but she just couldn't bring herself to do it.  It wasn't that she had taken into consideration that that was not the best way to break the news to Jacob.  Even though she had considered it a good idea to tell him in front of others so any anger would more likely be controlled..  NO that wasn't it. 

 

She just really wasn't ready to share her news yet with anyone.  It was a special secret, this little one that was just starting to grow inside her and it seemed very important to keep it to herself yet.  Ava just could not bring it out for anyone else to weigh and pass judgment on.  It felt like doing that would take something away from her that she was not ready to give up yet so dinner passed as normal. 

 

Everyone had gathered in the den for the Lions game.. family tradition to watch it together every Thanksgiving.   

 

Ava and Jacob rode silently on the way home..  Christmas lights everywhere lit up the view with such glowing warmth.  This was Ava's favorite time of the year. 

 

Jacob broke the silence.  "Ava, there's something I want to talk to you about.  You know we've been renting the house for about 5 years and I.. well.. I..I'm ready to buy a home."  There, he had done it, blurted it out!  "What do you think?  How do you feel about it?  Do you want to buy a home too?" 

 

Ava was silent for a bit... the thoughts swirling in her head... baby on the way... her credit card maxed out... BUT she had been wishing that they would move closer to her job. 

 

"Jacob, I'm pregnant."  That was all she said.  Jacob blinked, hit the brake, pulled onto the shoulder, killed the motor and turned to look at her.

Anita, I don't know... Jacob has so much hidden from Ava.. and both of their safety is dependent upon him keeping the deepest secret to himself.  He has developed a very guarded life... whatever his true feelings on the matter, will he reveal them to his wife?
