Black Friday began the Season of Lights in the southeastern Wisconsin suburb of West Allis...for the 26th year, 300 homes celebrate the season with elaborate outdoor holiday displays. You may even find Santa "dashing thru the snow"....though we don't have any just yet !
"Candy Cane Lane" is located between Oklahoma and Montana avenues from 92nd to 96th streets.
Visitors can drive or walk through the neighborhood from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weeknights, and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays .
It will warm your heart...to see all the decorations and know that there are 300 families who care enough to celebrate the season, spend the time and money on decorations to help such a worthwhile cause. While there is no charge to see this spectacle of lights, the neighbors respectfully request donations for the MACC Fund. MACC stands for Milwaukee Athletes Against Childhood Cancer.
Make it a tradition, as we do...bring your checkbook....and help this worthy cause during this season when children afflicted with this disease have less to smile about....and less to celebrate.
Last year, this warm hearted neighborhood raised nearly $100,000 for this worthy cause.
When you have finished your shopping....and it gets dark after 5pm....take a tour of Candy Cane Lane...it is a family tradition at our house. You will love the display of decorations and the appreciate the creativity and work the neighborhood has put into this grass roots fund raising effort. Now you know just one more reason why we have called Wisconsin home for a lifetime.
