It may be the best time ever to buy a home in the Cape Cod of the Midwest--Door County! We are a two hour drive from the Fox Valley, three hours from Milwaukee suburbs and Madison, and if you leave work in Chicago you can be here in time for a nine p.m. dinner.
We are a secondary market with one primary city, a small MLS Board, and we have seen some drastic highs and lows over the past three years. People certainly aren't giving away homes in this area, but over the past several week I saw a hotel condominium (1 bedroom/1 bath) listed for $10,000.00. That's....a steal. However, there are so many more opportunities here, in Fish Creek, Ephraim, Sister Bay, Ellison Bay, Egg Harbor, Sturgeon Bay and throughout the Door. Last week saw me discussing homeownership with two friends and some family.
