The Aftermath

By

The AftermathI'm sharing this photo mostly because it captures a very rare phenomenon - Mary at rest. She is one of those people who have trouble sitting still and just relaxing. There always seems to be something that needs doing - if it isn't some obscure bit of housework, it's going through the MLS hotsheet, doing a craft project for our granddaughters, making lists, doing things on lists, or worrying about what she forgot to put on the list. More than 5 minutes of inactivity is about the limit - then she starts feeling guilty about being lazy. (One of the secrets of our successful marriage is my ability to watch all this from a comfortable chair without feeling guilty myself, matched with Mary's willingness to tolerate me doing that).

With all of the effort that went into the usual real estate stuff, getting ready for Thanksgiving (including showing a couple of homes Thanksgiving morning), eating ourselves into food-induced comas, and cleaning up the debris, it's been an exhausting week for Mary, and it finally caught up with her today - she's been down and out for a couple of hours now.

The less said about the dogs, the better. There is absolutely nothing remarkable or different about what they're doing or where they're doing it - just business as usual.

Very nice tribute to Mary.  I think this is precious!  I hope she thinks so too!

Pretty much the same drill at our house.  I never feel guilty about letting Chief Cook do all the work and worrying about what isn't getting done.  She is the same way....constantly on the move.  I think she's taken 10 naps in the 25 years or so that I have known her.

That is a pretty sight to see your wife actually snoozing.

People who sleep between two or more dogs are my kind of people.  Wonderful photo, wonderful woman.

How did you manage to get this one pass Mary?!   There are times when you just have to let sleep take over, good for her to finally get some rest!  Now if she can just get you in your relax mood the two of you will be even!  LOL

Hi everyone - thanks for your comments on this rare occasion I was lucky enough to record. It is true, as some of you suggested, that I am in a bit of hot water, but as penance for my transgression, I have accepted a to-do list for tomorrow, as well as other reparations to be named at a later date. It's a good thing Mary is a good sport. I hope you are all having a great weekend. And Anna, thanks for the 'Tude feature!

Hi Dick, so I'm chiming in kinda late now. I'm glad everyone else jumped on you about the lazy chair so I didn't have to put in my two cents. But I'm sure you're not one to toot your own horn or tell us all that you have been doing to support Mary. See dude, I'm defending you based on your character. Have a super week!
