Preparing your Maui home for winter

While the rest of the country hunkers down for the long winter ahead, here in Hawaii we take a different approach to prepare for the winter season:

  • close the windows and sliding doors
  • put the extra blankets on the beds
  • check the BBQ grill and see if it's time for a new one
  • clean out the boxes of junk from the guest bedroom and make up the bed for guests
  • wash the spare car and get it ready for visitors
  • put up Christmas lights
close the windowsextra blankets on the bedsget ready for Christmas on Maui

It's just that simple for many of us who have no heating or cooling systems in our homes.  Aren't you just a little jealous?  When you're ready to make the move to Maui, let me help with your search and capture of the perfect home.

Georgina, this is truly a story to tell in the winter given we had snow today in Santa Fe. You have got me thinking differently about your Maui lifestyle with this post. Have a great holiday!

Georgie Aloha ha ha

Oh no no no it's not like that for me! I stop wearing shorts and start wearing Jeans. I buy extra bottles of wine! Bake some holiday goodies. Water my plants just a little bit less. And sleep in until 9 am as the holidays roll around. Take a few shopping sprees to get extra foods so I don't have to shop in the Holiday rush. Buy my presents on line and have them mailed to my house and most important; practice my "Holiday Songs on Ukulele." I still don't use a blanket or even wear socks in Old Wailuku. I came for Michigan 28 years ago, I'll never be cold again. lol Everyone should be so luck Maui No Ka Oi!

I just wanted to stop by and say Mele Kalikimaka to yu and yours!

Emily - you really should give it serious though.

Jane - yes we get winter... rain and cooler weather.

Jeff - Well you know it's about 10 degrees cooler in Huelo than Wailuku so we do need blankets at times!  And yes I have been wearing long pants for a few days now.  Can't remember the last time I had to water the garden, haha.  Almost need a row boat just to get there.  I agree, I don't ever want to be cold and I could care less if I ever saw snow again.  The only ice I want to see is in my drinks!  Mele Kalikimaka to you too!
