Beach home italianate villa

The weather was warm today, and we took advantage of it.  Low tide was in the minus zone, when the ocean recedes to below ground level and opens up an expanse of sand.  These pictures were taken before the full expression of low tide, which would happen 2 hours later.  Along the way, we took a shot of my favorite home, a large Italianate villa with great arches!

We spoke to a fisherman who pointed out a pod of dolphins swimming behind the break line, which indicated that the fish were plentiful, and he was hoping to catch some local halibut.  We met people from back East who were delighted to be spending their Thanksgiving weekend in Carpinteria in shorts and flipflops.

Then we met this adorable dog who bounded over to us to make friends, followed by her owner and her dog brother, a magnificent boxer.  She is a Shiba Inu, a Japanese dog descendant of the Japanese fox.  We had fun discussing dogs, and he let us know that this petite elegant dog is the pack leader.  We love watching dogs at the beach, they have a way of expressing their joy that is palpable.

It was definitely a great Saturday to relax, enjoy and appreciate our respite from a very busy month.

Alexandra - you are very poetic. Beautiful photos. I am surprised to see the dogs on the beach, here there are too few places where dogs are allowed

Sharon,

We have magnificent low tides.  When it gets below 2 feet, we get to see all kinds of underwater life, anemones, starfixh, sponges.  It is amazing.  Aren't we lucky to have this kind of weather.  I am looking forward to tomorrow.  That Shiba Inu was gorgeous! A

Jon,

Thank you.  Our dog owners are very conscientious about picking up after their dogs.  We have a great beaxh further up about 2 miles that is dedicated for dogs and horses, and has a baggie unit for everyone who needs one.  People here will even pick up debris to deposit in the garbage.  We appreciate and love our beaches and we love our animals also.  We can work together and make everyone happy. A, Just magnificent! Looks like paradise. I'm one of those people from back east that would have loved to spend Thanksgiving in shorts and flip flops. Maybe I still can for Christmas and New Years ,-)

Have a great Day!

Alexandra,

What a beautiful fall day for the beach. I'm marveling at the 70 degree days forecast for the coming week.

Enjoy!

Great pictures, you two. I love just strolling along the beach. Shiba Inus are really cute dogs and she looks like she wanted you to play with her. Our Goldie used to love the beach!

Oh my!!  Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!!  Wow!  When are you guys coming to visit me in LA?

I just got back from La Jolla where the tides were the lowest of the year this past week, and today was the lowest of the low. The tidepools were awesome, and I got some great pictures of the beautiful San Diego coastline.... exposed, so to speak.

Debb,

I like the villa not so much for the luxury, but the elegance of the columns, and the way it is set back just enough to take advantage of the beach.  I love all the dogs, they make us laugh and remind us of the joy of liiving. A

Toni,

She was exquisite little girl.  She just kept running everywhere in full steam ahead mode.  Her owner could barely keep up, and her boxer friend was right there with her.  It was a wonderful show.  I can definitely relate to how you Goldie loved the beach. Thanks, A

Hi A~ What a wonderful way to rejuvenate! Visually stimulating, the smell of salt in the air, sunshine, the sound of waves gently connecting with the shore...You conveyed it all perfectly!

I love that we have such dog friendly communities too!

Best regards from Seattle,
