Feng Shui Bed Placement part 1 by Laura Cerrano Feng Shui NYC consultant

This can sometimes be a confusing topic when figuring out bed placement. It really does make a difference, especially if you are sensitive to reading and feeling energy within your home.  Bed placement is known to effect your sleep patters, dreams, relationships and even health.

Here is a simple break down of ways recommended not to face your bed according to Feng Shui

A. Having your bed placed against the corner of the wall when in a relationship or seeking one. This can actually cramp opportunities in that section of your life. Energy needs to flow freely on both sides.  If it can not, then how can a person enter  into your life without resistance.

B.  Having your head backed up by a window is seen as lacking support when you sleep and in life.  Traditional Feng Shui says to be backed up with a solid wall, especially if you do not have a headboard. It as if your energy is going right back out the window.

C.  Having your Feet out the door, also known as the "Coffin position," is seen as a negative setup.  This is a very common postion that many hear about. Having your energy going out the door relates to unsteady sleep patterns.

D. Placing your head by the door. The energy does not get a chance to circulate around the bedroom and hits directly into the bed to quickly.

Good reminder, I also understand that it not a good thing to store alot of things under the bed as well.

Laura- I love this little Feng Shui lesson and guess I have to move my bed because my feet are out the door.  In your drawing where would you have placed the bed? Would you put it angled from the top right corner?

Good morning! Good topic, feel wiser akready! I've been in A, B, C, and D bedrooms, and can see/feel why none of these are good choices. In a room like this, would the better choice be D-just set further away from the door-or A/ B, with a nighttables' width between the edge of the bed and the wall?

Hi Carole, this is really great to know.  So, in a bedroom like this, would D be best, just moved further from the door ?  Or, B, moved up closer to the corner?

Joanna, B would be best because it will be moved away from the window and you still have a commanding position of the door.  You can see good Feng Shui placements of bed in part 2 :)

Michele, you are correct, it is best to keep underneath your bed clutter free as to promote great sleep :)

Kathy, as mentioned to Joanna, you can place the B bed more up and away from the window or as you mentioned you can place in the corner on an angle facing the doorway.  If you did that you have to place a plant or light as to offset the angle and empty space behind the bed.

A and B would be best, moved away from the corner and window with 2 night stands :) excellent observation Marie :)
