It's that time of year again...many are hauling out their Christmas trees and decorations, others are buying fresh cut trees and many are decorating trees along the highway! What...you don't get it? Remember we in Austin like to live up to our Motto "Keep Austin Weird!"
Lady Bird Johnson made sure in the spring our highways are blanketed with gorgeous Blue Bonnets and Indian Paint Brushes...varying brilliant shades of bluish purples and vibrant reddish orange colors (like our sunsets). During the holidays residents head out to decorate the ugly cedar trees that line many of our highways! Why?? It's fun to grab the family or some friends and get into the Christmas spirit by using some creative juices to beautify the highways. Everybody loves seeing our highways decorated and it gets us into the holiday spirit! Christmas ornaments,CD's, red plastic plates, painted cartons...you see it all! You have to admit Austinites are a creative bunch!
