Rachel has a informative post on how to stage a home. I do like her point about making sure the furniture fits the size of the room.

So you have a listing and it needs to be staged which includes renting furniture.  There's no time to waste you have to move quickly because chances are they wanted it staged and photographed in the next couple of days.

Below is a hands on approach to choosing and combining the right pieces of rental furniture for your listing.

At CM Staging Solutions we offer a guided website to help you choose furniture quickly and with confidence.  Here are some things to look for when renting from a website:

A great starting point is matching the size of furniture to the space, check out the sight your on and see if they've pre-sorted the options such as this (click the link):  Toronto Furniture Rentals

From there you can choose small to medium or medium to large sofas.

If you would like suggestions on what furniture to combine with the different sofa options click on the link below and you will see "Suggested Rentals" below each item as you click on them.

Suggested Furniture Rental Combinations  It is important to make sure not only the colours but also the dimensions of each piece of furniture  are proportionately scaled.  For example when choosing a coffee table to work with your sofa you want to make sure the height is approximately the same height at the seat of the sofa.  If the coffee table is too high or too low it will feel dysfunctional.

When designing/decorating you typically try to choose an end table and table lamp combination that ensures the lamp shade is approximately at eye level, when staging it is not a necessary to be as fussy since you're not staging it for living, however it is always helpful when there are dimensions to go by.

When shopping on line, if the combination of the height of your table and the height of your table lamp add up to in and around 55" to 58" that is generally a good height for the average sofa.

Another winning combination to consider would be to place the lamps behind the sofa on a sofa table.Toronto Furniture Rental Package

This always looks smart, can take away some of the guess work and gives a little more height when you are dealing with ceiling heights that are higher than 9'.  Sometimes furniture rental websites will have packages you can rent such as this one (click on the link to see other packages):

Something that is also helpful for home stagers and realtors who do not have a large accessory inventory and are looking to create a winning look, some websites will also offer accessory rentals (click on the link below to see the accessory packages).

Toronto Home Staging Furniture and Accessory RentalAt the end of the day, there is no quick fix or there wouldn't be a need for professional home stagers, but there are definitely easier options for the professional home stager or realtor who is looking to make their job a little easier and take out some of the guess work.
