This isn't the first time I've posted this video, it probably won't be the last.
The last time I posted it was to share with you the amount of the check our small group of bikers and golfers sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital after our Bikes and Blues With Mickey Jones events last April.
This time I am posting it to show why I am inspired to volunteer on this committee to raise money for St. Jude and will continue to do so as long as I can.
I am hoping this song and video by (at the time) 19 yr old Kayla LoCicero will inspire you to get involved in a favorite charity too!
There are many good charities out there, just make sure to research them first, make sure you know where your money is going.
"They pass a statue
as they walk through the doors
Of a man named Danny
These kids have never seen before
They'll pay no money
With the help from you and me
I saw an angel
In the Halls of St Jude....Memphis Tennessee"
The children that go to St. Jude are treated like family because that is the way Danny Thomas, St. Jude's founder, wants it.
Their parents don't have to pay a dime for their treatment, or the lodging at the different houses that are there at the hospital for the families of the patients.
Because of this, "no child is turned away because of their parents inability to pay."
St. Jude relies on donations to run their hospital, and it costs over 1.2 million dollars a day to run this hospital.
Not only are they researching ways to fight cancer (and win) but they are researching other diseases like childhood AIDS and the Bird Flu.
If you have a hard to buy person on your Christmas list, you can always donate to a charity in their name a small amount as a gift.
There is no better feeling in the world to me then giving my time and more to help these children live. When I get to meet them, I can't begin to tell you how it makes me feel. I guess you could say it's almost like I'm in the presence of a miracle.
Lysa, This post touched a nerve, this is my all time favorite charity as well. I give to them as often as I can because I believe that any amount helps. I can't think of anything better then helping ill children and their families. Danny Thomas was a true inspiration and I'm glad his daughter carries his passion.
